How Many People Have Lived?

From today, going back to the time when the first human beings existed, how many people have already lived on Earth?

“According to the United Nations, world population reached 7 Billion on October 31, 2011…According to the most recent estimates, the human population of the world is expected to reach 8 billion people in the spring of 2024.” (http://www.worldometers.info). This is nine years from now.

How many people are born each day and how many pass away?  From prehistory/ancient history up to the present we call The Social Age.I wonder about each life, each mind, each heart that roamed around this home we call Earth. The richest, the greatest of minds, the most inspiring souls we have ever known.

I see how the fleeting glance of each moment pass by. And altogether creating the most meaningful and beautiful experience we call life.

Human life is very short compared to other creations or organisms.“Worldwide, the average life expectancy at birth was 71.0 years (68.5 years for males and 73.5 years for females) over the period 2010–2013 according to United Nations World Population Prospects 2012 Revision, or 70.7 years (68.2 years for males and 73.2 years for females) for 2009 according to The World Factbook.

Wishing each person living will be awakened to this fact and hopefully drives him to progress, to be better, but also to be kinder, be more human, and to seize each waking moment to be happy and loving to the people around him. Maybe then who needs violence? Who needs war?

Embracing Me

May the prayers embrace me tonight

As I lay myself down to sleep

May the prayers envelope me

With Light and Strength that will never leave

May wisdom and courage descend upon me

Change my mind and heart into a better being

May I conquer hatred and the rest of my emotions

Instead be more understanding and forgiving

Be loving and human

Even to the person who has wounded my spirit

Thoughts On A Rainy Day

The life before me, I will never truly understand.

Stories, books, photos, music, they just give me a glimpse of how it was in the past

But still, I will always be a stranger

The life after I die, I will never get to  know

I will leave my stories and pictures for the future to see

But I will always be a stranger to them

They will never fully understand

My life now is mine

This is the only time I fully comprehend

This is mine

Time Travel

I mentioned in my past blog how I grew fond of history and geography as I came of age. They were not my favorite when I was in school. Now I am very much interested in world maps, and the things that happened to these people and places in the past. I dream to see all the countries in the world. As I watch movies/shows about notable people in the past (Ragnar Lothbrok of the Vikings, Genghis Khan, Kublai Khan, Marco Polo, King Edward V, Christopher Columbus, and many more), I can’t help but think of the many great men and women who roamed around this world: the royalty, the noble, the wise, the martyrs, the holy, the brave, the warrior, the explorers, the conquerors, the richest, the poorest. So many people, different lives, in different times, different era, so many culture, adventures, feast, wars, struggles, and human sufferings.  Human race/human lives are so diverse, rich, and colorful. Their existence has been very long in history now.

I believe I started to appreciate history as I started to realize that we are just passers by on earth. We are but travelers/pilgrims on this journey. So in this very short life of mine, I want to learn as much as I can about the past and about the world I live in now. This makes me love the present more. I want my eyes and heart to be open. See the NOW as much as I can, with all my senses, and  embrace it. Then my heart will overflow with gladness that I am a part of this even for just a while. Look at life as if it is perfectly wonderful with all its flaws.  For it scares me and saddens me to think that someday I will be leaving this life, this world, and the people I love. The future, beyond my existence, I will never know, see, hear, taste, and feel.

Let It Go

My kids used to watch the movie, Frozen over and over. I already know the songs by heart. It has a very beautiful soundtrack. My personal favorites are, Love is an Open Door and of course, Let It Go.  I find the lyrics very meaningful. For me, it means that we have to learn how to let go. Let go of the past, the hurt, the people who pull us down. Try to look forward, move away from the bad and sad situation we are in. Be nice to yourself, love yourself more. Do not burden yourself thinking of what other people will think about you. It is your life. Their opinions should not matter. Let the storm rage on. Just hold still. It shall be over soon.

My favorite lines:

I don’t care what they’re going to say…

Let the storm rage on…

I’m never going back, the past is in the past…

And the fear that once controlled me, can’t get to me at all!

Let It Go

Hope you had a happy weekend!

Way to Happiness

The following are collection of phrases I read somewhere. I usually just put together all these lessons in my head, and try to remember them by heart. Sharing to you some of my favorite credos:

Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a dream. Today is a gift. So live TODAY, be present.

I love this phrase because it guides me when my mind starts to wander off.

It is very nice to reminisce and appreciate your journey by looking back. I often recall some memories in the past from my childhood, teen years, when I started working, the family where I grew up as well as the dearest friends along the way. I can say life was  simpler then. Some make me smile, some make me cry. Definitely, looking back makes me understand more my present life.  On the other hand, there are times when I keep wondering what my life could have been if I chose a different path. Then I am left with questions, lots of questions of what could have been.  Then I go back to my credo. The past is history. I can never go back or change it. It is useless to over think and waste my time and energy  about things I can not change.

Every circumstance in our lives (both good and bad) are necessary for us to be where we are right now. There is a reason for every event, every encounter with people who walk on our path.

People come and go in our journey, and some linger for a while. There is still a reason behind. As of now, we do not know why. Only God knows why (by the way, I love this song by Kid Rock. I remember my brother and his friends)! So just welcome the people in your life right now. These are people we love and cherish, and some we might dislike or hate.

It is good to have dreams and hopes. They keep us going. They inspire and motivate us. It surely helps us to have a happier life. And as we have an eye for the future, we should bear more importance on TODAY. If we keep looking back or forward, we might miss out the feeling and the beauty of today. Try to recognize and appreciate the people and things we have right now. We are blessed in so many ways. I believe that if we cultivate in ourselves this way of thinking, we can be happier and satisfied.

Bloom where God planted you. You are special. You are blessed. Refrain from comparing yourself with others. You will either find yourself  superior or inferior. You are special. You are blessed.
